The Challenge

Guardian had a homegrown back-end system that was unable to meet the demands of their newer distribution partners; their system architecture required extensive manual interaction, review, and follow up. Like many large insurance companies with legacy systems, manual paper-intensive processes made it difficult to manage their workflows and producer relationships. Their process included cumbersome contract/document management with approximately 30 different contract types and 3 million documents. Response to required paperwork like mailed documents, email, and license verification was slow and error prone. Turnaround time for background-check results was also long. With the complexity of their organization and an outdated legacy system, it was very difficult to maintain efficiency with approximately 200,000 producers and 3,000,000 licenses/appointments to manage. Maintaining compliance to regulatory rules was a nightmare.
